This is a diverse weekend.  The family, surfers, and Fishing Pier group usually hang out around the Casino Beach.

Gay Memorial Day Weekend in Pensacola is as its name implies. Gay, Memorial Day Weekend, in Pensacola. Anecdotally, it started sometime in the 80's with a few people gathering on the beach. This has evolved into a huge party of thousands, peaking in 2003 at over 50,000. In late May, over Memorial Day weekend, it's one of the world's true gay meccas. The five-day weekend (it'll take place Thursday, May 21, through Monday, May 25, 2009) began more than 20 years ago and has become a cross between a circuit-style gay gathering and a regional Florida panhandle gay pride celebration.
