The new Navarre Beach Pier, billed as the longest pier on the Gulf of Mexico, will open Saturday.

Santa Rosa County officials and the pier's builders will have a public ribbon cutting at 9 a.m. at the front of the pier, 8579 Gulf Blvd.

The completion of the new pier, which stretches 1,545 feet, took about five years, according to a county press release.
