About the Artist

From Scotlant, Veronica started in 2000 to start seriously exploring jewellery after becoming increasingly fascinated with precious metal clay (PMC). The clay connection came from more than 20 years as a successful potter, and Veronica enjoys the challenge of working on a very different scale. Veronica is now working exclusively with silver, wire and semi-precious stones.

Veronica's current body of work explores the fusion of several techniques, which she has been refining since 2003. Crocheted and knitted fine wire is combined with shell, PMC silver or sometimes used alone in sculptural form, to create cuff bracelets, necklaces, collars and rings which she then weaves with gemstones, pearls and crystals. Veronica has a life-long knowledge of knitting and crochet which gives an endless supply of inspiration for stitches as well as for pattern and colour. This medium holds seemingly unlimited possibilities and in 2006 I have been exploring more textural and sculptural directions, as the crocheted wire allows for strength and form while still maintaining a delicate beauty. Veronica is very excited by this combination of techniques and gratified by the response to the work. Veronica has designed a collection priced to appeal to a wide range of customers, from simple pendants selling at $50 to elaborate collars and cuffs up to $2000.

Pearl Girls felt fortunate enough to have met her in person and we were overwhelmed with the uniqueness of her work...the beauty that comes from within her is shown in her work.

PENSACOLA JEWELRY SOURCE - WHOLESALE PEARL GIRLS SHOP
December 21st, 2009 11:40 AM
Why pay retail? Wholesale selection of gemstone jewelery that Pearl Girls Shop purchases direct from the source. OPEN HOUSE FOR THE HOLIDAYS WHEN: MON & TUES 2-6 WHERE: 4525 LAVALLET LANE, PENSACOLA, FL HTTP://WWW.PEARLGIRLSSHOP.COM 877-461-9907 The word pearl has become a metaphor for something very rare, very fine, and very valuable; yet seemingly fragile. But a PEARL is CREATED by GRIT captured deep within the oyster's shell. The Pearl is symbolic of women of the world - nurturing, beautiful and tough inside. Pearl Girls offers pearls at different grades (quality) and pricing. At the less expensive line; pearls can be acquired for fun and you can have LOTS of them. They are real and cost less than costume jewelry. You can lots of lesser quaity and wear them as you would costume jewelry. These pearls have flaws just as we as humans have flaws, as well as, beauty. We also offer higher grades (quality) pearls with high end silver, gemstones (topaz, jade, amazonite, turquoise and more). There are different pricing structures depending on materials used, grades and workmanship. We offer one of a kind artisan pieces and you may special order more expensive freshwater or salterwater pearls from Akoya to South Sea Pearls. Value of a natural pearl is different pertaining to quality. Quality natural pearls are very rare jewels. The actual value of a natural pearl is determined in the same way as it would be for other "precious" gems. The valuation factors include size, shape, quality of surface, orient and luster. Single natural pearls are often sold as a collector's item, or set as centerpieces in unique jewelry. Very few matched strands of natural pearls exist, and those that do often sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars. (In 1917, jeweler Pierre Cartier purchased the Fifth Avenue mansion that is now the New York Cartier store for US $100 cash and a double strand of matched natural pearls valued at the time at US $1 million.) Quality natural pearls are very rare jewels. The actual value of a natural pearl is determined in the same way as it would be for other "precious" gems. The valuation factors include size, shape, quality of surface, orient and luster. All girls love pearls and we strive to make acquiring real pearls affordable to all...just in different grades (quality). Just like pearls, Pearl Girls are timeless. Just like lipstick, you can never have enough pearls.

Renters told: Get out of foreclosed homes
December 18th, 2009 12:48 PM
http://www.floridarealtors.org/NewsAndEvents/n5-060309.cfm Renters told: Get out of foreclosed homes DAVENPORT, Fla. – June 3, 2009 – When Joe Isserles moved his wife and four sons, one of whom is comatose, into a rental home in Davenport earlier this year, the landlord failed to mention that the house was in the final stages of foreclosure. Shortly after they paid $1,200 rent for April, there was a knock on the door. “It was a representative from Coldwell Banker representing Chase Bank, saying the bank took over the loan because the homeowners hadn’t paid the mortgage in a year,” Isserles said. “The next morning, the sheriff showed up to padlock us out.” The Isserleses are among countless renters across the region and the country who have become unwitting victims of foreclosure – paying rent to landlords who pocket the rent money rather than use it to pay the mortgage. The houses go into foreclosure, and evicted tenants are left scrambling for a home. No one has tracked the number of renters affected by the continuing wave of foreclosures, but research companies such as RealtyTrac Inc. and other groups estimate that 20 percent to 40 percent of all foreclosed homes are not occupied by the owner. Some of those may be vacant or seasonal, but many are likely rentals. And experts say the proportion is likely higher in Florida, which also has one of the nation’s highest foreclosure rates. The state is home to one of every six loan defaults in the country, according to California-based RealtyTrac, with 119,200 foreclosure-related court filings during the first quarter alone. “Renters are losing their homes,” said Dean Preston, executive director of Tenants Together, a nonprofit group that represents California renters. Florida has no such organization. “They may not be as sympathetic of victims as homeowners, because they are not losing equity. But they are generally paying rent, losing deposits, forced out on short notice and treated unfairly by banks.” Unpleasant surprise Unlike defaulting homeowners, renters don’t see the eviction notices coming. Muffet Robinson, spokeswoman for the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida, said she returned one day last year to the Seminole County condominium unit she was renting only to find a foreclosure notice on the door. She learned that, even though she was paying her full rent on time, the landlord had not used it to pay the mortgage. “I didn’t really understand that, because that didn’t really seem honest to me,” said Robinson, who struggled to find another apartment on short notice. “It’s hard enough to move when you’re planning on it.” Picking up and moving quickly can be particularly difficult for a family such as the Isserleses. Tristen Isserles has been comatose since nearly drowning in a swimming-pool accident in September 2007, when he was 14 months old. Taking him to Easter Sunday church services required briefly unhooking him from ventilators, loading him in the family’s sport utility vehicle and carting him into the congregation in a Radio Flyer-style wagon. To permanently relocate him and all the medical equipment he needs to survive is even more challenging. When his parents were not working jobs as a resort concierge and a time-share marketer, they were scouring neighborhoods from Davenport north to Clermont to find another place. The upheaval could have been avoided if the landlord had told them the bank was about to take ownership of the house, Maria Isserles said. “They were already in the final stages of foreclosure when they rented the house,” she said. “I couldn’t imagine somebody being so cold and heartless. ... How can you do this to a family with a sick child?” The landlord, Alfred Sundar, said in a telephone interview that he knew he had defaulted on the loan but thought he had reached a settlement with the bank that would allow him to keep the rental house. “I submitted all of the paperwork to the bank, and the bank said it was going to work with me, that I would pay $1,440 a month,” said Sundar, who drives a shuttle bus at Orlando International Airport. “And when I received a letter in the mail that the house was sold, I was shocked.” He said he has a daughter with severe medical conditions and understands somewhat the plight of his tenants. “If I knew the bank wouldn’t work with me, I would have never rented it to them,” he said of the Isserles family. Some compensation The Coldwell Banker agent who first knocked on the Isserleses’ front door to ask them to leave said the family’s plight was unfortunate but noted that the bank is giving them six weeks to relocate instead of the 48-hour notice many renters get. And the family is getting compensated for being forced out. Joe Isserles said the bank offered him $1,500 to leave the house, in an arrangement known in the mortgage business as “cash for keys.” After explaining that he and his wife had invested time and money cleaning and painting the rental, he was able to get $3,400. But they must be gone by Monday. Unlike states such as New York and California, Florida has few laws to protect renters’ rights. Relief may be on the way, however, in the form of a new federal law passed earlier this month by Congress. Effective immediately, tenants who pay rent on time can remain in their homes until their lease ends plus an additional 90 days – unless the bank sells the property to someone who intends to reside in it. Even without a lease, a renter may stay in a house for as long as 90 days after the foreclosure is complete, though that provision in the law is set to expire at the end of 2012. “Really, it’s the first major piece of legislation that protects renters from foreclosure,” said Taylor Materio, spokeswoman for the National Low Income Housing Coalition. The Isserles family, meanwhile, has found another home nearby where it can relocate. This time, Joe Isserles said, he did the homework to make sure the family wouldn’t get another unwanted knock on the door. Copyright © 2009, The Orlando Sentinel, Fla., Mary Shanklin. PEARL GIRLS SHOP can special order Pearls for you from strands, single to design.  Call us: 877-461-9907

 Freshwater Pearls

Freshwater Pearls are grown in an amazing variety of delicate shapes ranging from round and oval to button, drop and baroque. Their colours vary from pure white to orange and rosy violet.

Keshi Pearls

Possessing a whimsical charm entirely different to the perfectly round, large pearls, seedless keshi pearls arise spontaneously in the culture of Akoya, and South Sea pearls.

These small freeform pearls make fascinating necklaces in colours ranging from silvery white
to silvery grey.
Keishi pearls are formed when the mollusk ejects the pearl bead nucleus but continues to make a pearl. The pearl size is refered to its longer length range

Akoya Pearls

Considered the classic amongst cultured pearls,

Akoya Pearls are primarily round or oval in shape and measure 2 to 10mm.

They are cultured in southwestern Japan and China. Their colours range from pinkish white to creamy shades and silvery blue

  South Sea Pearls

There are two basic groups of South Sea cultured pearls:
      white and black.
Pearls from the white group are primarily cultured in the northern waters of Australia, the Philippines and Indonesia. Their rarity and exceptional sizes, from 8 to 20mm, make them highly prized. Their colours range from white and silvery blue to pale gold - the golden or light-yellowish varieties abound in Philippine and Indonesian waters while white or silvery hues occur mainly in Australian waters.
Pearls from the black group, among which is the legendary black pearl of the South Pacific, are most frequently found over a wide area stretching from the Cook Islands, eastward through Tahiti to the Tuamotu Archipelago and the Gambier Islands in French Polynesia.

If you look up the HISTORY of PEARLS, you will discover that:

  • Pearls are amongst the oldest and most universal of all gems.
  • Pearls are the oldest jewels know to man.
  • Pearls are the only gem made by a living animal
  • In many countries pearls were worn as a talisman to bring good fortune, to ward off evil spirits and to cure illnesses.
  • Pearls are symbolic of feminine charm

Natural Pearls have always been considered rare and are quite expensive. They are usually sold by carat weight

Cultured Pearls grow inside of a mollusk, but with human intervention. A shell is carefully opened and an object is inserted. Shapes of objects vary, depending on the final shape of pearl that's desired. Over time the object becomes coated with layers of nacre. The depth of the nacre coating depends on the type of mollusk involved, the water it lives in, and how long the intruder is left in place before being harvested. As nacre thickness increases, so does the quality and durability of the cultured pearl.  Cultured pearls are sold by their size in millimeters.

Saltwater Pearls originate within a saltwater mollusk (oyster or clam). Saltwater pearls can be either natural or cultured.

Freshwater Pearls grow inside of a freshwater mollusk.

    Pearl Shape Categories

    • Spherical pearls are round, which is traditionally the most desirable shape. The rounder the pearl, the more expensive its price tag.
    • ASymmetrical pearls include pear shaped pearls and other shapes that have symmetry from one side to another, but are not round.
    • Baroque pearls are irregularly shaped pearls. They are often the least expensive category of pearls, but are unique and quite beautiful.

Pearl Girls Shop is a source of PEARLS, treasures of the SEA!

As girlfriends, you will find a treasure of other SEA TREASURES, Coastal Treasures,  and Gemstones that we found for YOU!

Who are we? Girls just like you.

This business was conceived for our "kids", Paige who is 22 years old and pursuing her Doctorate to become a Psychologist just like dad.  Paige's brother, Andrew Spencer is a junior at University of Central Florida studing economics.  Andrew plans to continue his education with law school.  This is a mom and kids business where everyone participates.  Paige assists in the making of jewelry, inventory and sales.  Andrew in assisting with the inventory software, website and quick books.

As a mom, just like so many of you, I wanted to take something that we as girlsl love and offer it to other girls at a discounted price.  The prices can vary depending on the grade of pearl, type of pearl, source and the complexity of the design.  In order to make a pearl affordable to everyone, we locally offer pearl earrings $5 and up.  Pearl Girls Shop also offers special one of a kind high end artisan pieces...still at a discount - even though it is on the higher price range.  You can also special order certain items such as a South Sea Pearl or cultured Akoya Pearls.

Paige and Jeannette are girls...women just like you.
Jeannette Spencer is a mom, avid animal lover and wife.  Jeannette worked for 25 years in the Hi-tech corporate sector with companies such as: Digital Equipment Corporation, Wang Laboraties, Control Data Corporaton and AT&T merging wireless-telecommunications & data.  Jeannette Spencer has continued her hi-tech consulting business, http://www.telspencer.com.

With the Real Estate industry changing and 87% of the public looking for properties on the Internet, Jeannette branched out into Real Estate to assist in the household budget.  Real Estate is a BUYER's market which makes it stressful for SELLERS.  For  Pensacola Homes check out: http://www.jeannettespencer.com.    So to have fun and bring a positive side to the world of Pearl Girls, Jeannette implemented Pearl Girls Shop.  If you are still suffering from stress: click on http://www.drrickspencer.com to schedule an appointment!

Jeannette thought about the joy she felt at 12 years old in Japan when the Pearl Master in Yokohama Japan came to a friends house to show his pearls.  The pearls were so beautiful  and iridescent.  Ever since that moment in time, pearls have always been Jeannette's favorite jewelry and Jeannette finds that Pearls symbolize all of us as women - through adversity and grit..we find beauty and become beautiful inside.

Jeannette wanted to share her joy in pearls and treasures of the sea with others...and yet create a work ethic for her children.

Envision the joy in YOUR FACE as you hold a beautiful pearl in your hand.   Pearl Girls Shop's goal is to make having jewelry affordable and not stressful.  Rare and expensive pieces can be custom ordered.

Jeannette's daughter, Paige Spencer finished the University of Florida and is now in a Doctorate program studying Psychology. Due to the practicums she has to do in addition to the classes; we thought of an additional  means that Paige can assist herself in funding her education.

WE ARE ALL PEARL GIRLS!  And we enjoy pearls and want to bring that joy to you!
